Last week we initiated a discussion concerning some changes in the Basic-Version. In our mail to our users we asked them to be a part of this discussion. Here you can find the blogpost.

Here a short summary of our suggestions:

1. Basic user may export flashcards to XML-format
2. No need to publish flashcards
3. 2 free flashcard sets for Basic user (no archive)
4. Current Basic user (and downgrading Pro user)  may archive sets (inactive until upgrade)

Thanks to all who participated. We were surprised that more Pro user participated (some with mails), although it should concern Basic user.

We discussed a lot the suggestion of Yokotsuno to introduce something in between where user can pay for extra sets.

We didn’t discuss at all about ads. As Tamim comments correctly, by doing so we would concentrate our efforts on how to satisfy companies rather than you. The wishlist for users would be substituted by a list for companies. Nobody wants to do that.

Conclusion:

We liked the idea of Yokotsuno. But it would take a lot of effort and time to implement it. Unfortunately we don’t have so much time.  Our conclusion is:

4. Current Basic user (and downgrading Pro user)  may archive sets (inactive until upgrade)

We think we found a solution satisfying both parties. To make a clear cut we will change CoboCards-Basic to CoboCards-Free approximately mid/end of May. Further information will follow.

Next school cooperation with a school in Kleve/Germany. The school has 2.800 students in total.

The cooperation will take place with 3 classes which will use CoboCards to prepare themselves for their (final) exams. Thank to Ms Haus-Stahlberg.

We’re happy to see teachers like her trying to help their students.

Please argue factual with reasons why you think it should be like this or that and come up with own suggestions. We’ll delete inappropirate comments. Please consider that CoboCards will not have any financial support after May 2010.

Our suggestions:

1. Export feature for everyone
Reason: It’s YOUR data. You can get it out of CoboCards whenever you want. Video Export

2. No forcement for publications in Pool
Reason: We don’t want you to do something you are not willing to do

3. 2 flashcards ets for Basic user
Reason: Most of you just have 2 sets. Pro version hast to be attractive.

4. Only Pro user may archive
Reason: Hard work doesn’t have to be deleted, even if Pro subscription ends. Only Pro user may reactivate sets from the archive. Video Archive

We proudly present our mobile App for Android Smartphones. After publishing the version for iPhones we now have one for Android operating systems.

Just search for CoboCards in order to find it in the “Market”.

Here some impressions:

We made a survey regarding our Pro version among our Basic users to get their impression. They also prefer the features concerning flashcard management like creating folders, moving cards in different stacks etc. But also double-sided printing, Leitner algorithm and answer/question learning.

We promised ot give one of them a 3 months free subscription of CoboCards-Pro.

Because we had a nice day today we said: Who cares, let’s choose another one. And the Pro goes to…

This is how we welcome people who want to use an API to connect with CoboCards.  From today on we start our closed beta phase of CoboCards API. Everyone who is interested can ask for an API Key and do whatever he wants to do.

If we look at the keywords searched for in search engines to land on CoboCards.com, we can see that “CoboCards API” ist top rated. A reason for us to start this closed beta.
