A way to access some commands.  It is context sensitive, meaning it only displays those commands relevant to the item.

This is a view selector and a document zoom feature.

This is below the title bar and provides a centralized area that makes
it easy to find ways to work in your document.

This briefly appears displaying the command name and the keyboard shortcut.

This is used with a mouse to bring additional lines of information into view in a window.

A colored highlight bar that appears over the selected command.

Paste is an example of a split button.  Both parts of the button displays tooltips containing the button name, the shortcut key combination and a brief description of what clicking the button does.
