- Most common Ig
- Found in the blood and can enter tissue in regions of inflammation
     - Can cross placenta and confer imunity to fetus

- stays in the blood (moves less freely that IgG) and often attached to the surface of B cells
- First Ab produced upon infection - very good at aggregating Ag
