Why do the people immigrate to the Uk?
World War 2  had killed a lot  of young men in their prime, and while they were away women took many of the jobs that the men normally did (par exemple: factory work, farm work etc). When WW2 ended, the women were expected to return home and be housewife's and mothers.
Britain needed immigrants to help rebuild the bombed and destroyed cities, work in the factories and replace the men who had been killed in WW2,and also to deliver services such as health care.
Without the immigrants, there would not have been Irish builders rebuilding London after the war, or Jamaican nurses working in the health service.

CARIBBEAN IMMIGRANTS
Caribbean people began arriving in Britain as early as the 17th century, very quickly after there are many colonies in the region.
Many arrived as slaves. They were joined in time by other Black people; African traders, freed slaves  , who lived in the major cities and seaports, particularly London and Bristol.

-The Second World War brought large numbers of Caribbeans to Britain, mostly as members of the armed forces or as nurses. Caribbeans didn´t have problems with working in the factories and hospitals in Britain.

For Caribbean children who arrived in the wave of Post-War migration, Britain presented huge differences to their previous lives. Growing up in the Caribbean, an area of the world characterised by freedom and a beautifull landscape, could be hard.

Irish immigrants
Reasons for leaving Ireland:

- England's wartime economy(=Kriegswirtschaft) (1939-45) and post-war boom attracted many Irish people to immigrated to England.

Other emigrants, Catholic and Protestant, Nationalist and Unionist, might leave Ireland because of political unrest.

Irish workers played a central part in the time after the ww2.
By September 1942, there were 55,200 Irish workers registered with the police.
