Kathleen Y'Barbo is the author of more than forty novels which are not only bestsellers but award winners as well. She is a member of the tenth generation of her family to live in Texas where she resides with her husband. She is the mother of four grown children. Her Essay Writer for You Series, which includes The Confidential Life of Eugenia Cooper (Waterbrook Press, 2009) and Anna Finch and the Hired Gun (Waterbrook Press, 2010), concludes with The Inconvenient Marriage of Charlotte Beck.
Plot of The Inconvenient Marriage of Charlotte Beck
Charlotte Beck is a young girl visiting her grandfather in London when she begs her stepmother, Gennie, to allow her to be introduced to society. Although Charlotte is technically too young for being presented, Colonel William F. (Buffalo Bill) Cody, who is Charlotte's father's business partner and practically family, helps her convince Gennie. Charlotte is presented at the home of the Hambly family.

Charlotte falls out a window while trying to get some air and lands in what she believes to be the arms of Martin Hambly, the future earl. It is in truth his twin brother, Alex, who often takes Martin's place at social functions when Martin is otherwise engaged. This evening he is out slumming dressed as a stable hand.

Charlotte realizes the possible embarrassment she has caused and apologizes to everyone concerned. She further embarrasses herself and her uncle by performing in the Buffalo Bill Cody's Wild West show. Her embarrassment winds up in the newspaper where it further inspires other ladies of wealth to become a part of Cody's show.
Returning to Colorado
Upon returning to Colorado, Charlotte's father makes a deal with her, she can go to college provided she agrees to marry Alex Hambly when she graduates. She will also be given a place in the family business. Alex for his part of the bargain is given controlling interest in the Beck Mining.

Charlotte spends a blissful four years at school never thinking of the bargain she made. Upon graduation she returns home and is immediately faced with wedding plans. She asks her father when she will take her spot in his business and he tells her she will be working in Grandfather's branch of the business in London once she is married to Viscount Alex Hambly.

Charlotte believes she and Alex have entered into a marriage of convenience as they agreed upon, Alex quickly realizes he is in love with his wild young wife.and must find a way to win her love and convince her to stay married to him. Circumstances seem to want lead to the desires of one of their hearts.
Characters of The Inconvenient Marriage of Charlotte Beck
Charlotte Beck is a young woman that young women of any era could relate to. She is independent and knows what she wants. She strives for her independence and gives paper writing services to get what she wants.

Alex Hambly is a great male protagonist. He has the strength necessary to balance Charlotte's strength but also has a gentle side as well. He also knows what he wants and strives to find success in his desires as well.

The supporting characters lend themselves to the story. Charlotte's parents are indulgent, but also want her to be the best that she can be. Alex's brother, Martin, forces Alex into many situations he doesn't wish to be in but in doing so Alex becomes a better man for it. The addition of real historical characters such as Buffalo Bill Cody gives the story authenticity

that wouldn't be possible without these characters.

This is a wonderful conclusion to the Women of the West Series. It is completely a stand-alone story so one need not have read the previous two books to understand the storyline. The compelling nature of the story of Charlotte Beck may make the reader desire to know more about her past and lead the reader to read the other two books in the series.
